Wireless Sensor Network Architecture for Passenger Counting in Public Transportation

Krešimir Osman

Sažetak

The paper presents a concept architecture of the sensor network, with the purpose of counting passengers in public
transport. The architecture of the presented system is represented in the form of a block diagram. A concept
architecture for a passenger automatic counting system based on a two-layer clustered mobile sensor network has been
proposed. Each observed vehicle is considered as a cluster that transmits information to the central station via wireless
communication. The vehicle contains two sensors based on the principle of Passive Infrared Sensors (PIR) principle.
