Wear resistance of PVD TiAlN coating applied on high-speed steel S390 MC
Sažetak
The paper compares the abrasion and erosion wear resistance obtained on test samples made from the high-speed steel Böhler S390 Microclean. The specimens were hardened and tempered, with or without application of DCT, and after that they had been coated by the thin PVD TiAlN layer. Tests of abrasive wear resistance were performed using an abrasive wear testing machine constructed according to the norm ASTM G 65-85. The weight loss was measured after 26 m, 52 m and 78 m during the abrasive wear testing. Test of erosion resistance was carried out by exposing test samples to abrasion or impact erosion of fine sand particles and determining the weight loss after 30 and 60 minutes of wear. Worn surface were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. The significant influence of austenitization temperature on abrasion wear resistance has been observed, while the DCT has a minor effect. The DCT has significant influence on impact erosion resistance, while the austenitization temperature has a secondary influence.
