Some important aspects of development and introduction of paging system based on ERMES standard in Croatia have been investigated. The attention has been given to geographic and demographic parameters, existing and planned telecommunications infrastructure and regulations. The emphasis has been put on network, transmission systems and services developed or planned by Croatian Post and Telecommunications (HPT) which satisfy most of the needs for high quality paging system introduction with low additional investment. A viable concept for development of paging system in Croatia is outlined.
