Sažetak

The success of the teaching process is greatly dependent on the quality of communication between teachers and students. The majority of evaluation and feedback on each student's work is done using pre-established methods, such as predefined scoring and ranking system (numerical or letter grades). Due to its quantitative nature, the numerical system is quite restrictive, especially in non-exact areas like the arts or interdisciplinary courses. The qualitative component of student work, as well as the uniqueness of each individual student, is often overlooked. Another issue is the lack of motivation among students, who frequently only aim to complete the form for a specific numerical “award”, without actually understanding which aspects of the work affect the received points in which ways. This work proposes an innovative system of communication and feedback between teachers and students using emojis and augmented reality. The use of emojis to communicate and express attitudes and emotions is immediate, close, and familiar to younger generations, and as such can function as an adequate solution to the aforementioned problems. The ambiguous and impersonal scoring system is transformed into a familiar and understandable communication space in which students operate on a daily basis. Augmented reality, a new technology that is increasingly being used in everyday activities and communication via various channels, is an ideal medium for such change.
