Temperature Control System of the PEM Fuel Cell Stack
Sažetak
The temperature control has very high importance in all PEM fuel cell systems. In this paper a simple nonlinear thermal model with lumped parameters of the PEM fuel cell stack is given, as well as the well known stack voltage model. The linear thermal model is also calculated for several operating points. Based on the obtained linear model, a main PI controller is designed for operating point determined by maximum stack current. Changes in dynamic responses for other operating points are compensated using model reference adaptive controller with signal adaptation algorithm. The adaptation algorithm is implemented with saturation function and one state space variable. The dynamic responses obtained by simulation using program package MATLAB – SIMULINK, show that proposed adaptive algorithm is practically insensitive to the changes of operating point and has smaller temperature variations with the change of the resistive load than the main PI controller only.
