Sažetak

Plastic deformation of metal material influences its mechanical and physical parameters. Among all, it affects corrosion resistance. The influence of plastic deformation on corrosion resistance is different for different metal materials. In some cases, it supports corrosion process, and in other cases, it does not have any influence, or even slightly reduces corrosion process. This paper investigates the general corrosion resistance of cold, open die forged (upset forged) austenitic stainless-steel samples. The samples are upset forged for three deformation degrees. Corrosion resistance is tested for each deformation degree, on samples prepared with three different surfacing. To correctly conclude about the test results, statistical thinking, methods, and tools are necessary for rational quantification. Corrosion resistance parameters have been tested with three different methods. The results of corrosion testing on samples of different deformation degrees and different surface quality were statistically processed using R Project for Statistical Computing.
