Selecting an Optimum Axis for the Concrete Bridge Arch

Igor Gukov

Sažetak

A novel procedure for finding an arch girder form that minimizes bending moments, i.e. the so called "inverted load method" is described in the paper. Reduced undesirable bending moments in arches shaped according to this method, when compared to such bending in realized bridges, shows that the use of this method is highly justified.
