Resistance in Action: Experiments in Collective Writing

This paper briefly outlines some of the key problems with today’s academic publishing followed by experiments in countering these problems conducted by a global community loosely associated with New Zealand’s Editors’ Collective. The first part of the paper outlines a brief genealogy. It moves on to practical examples of tinkering with the text, followed by a discussion of main implications and challenges. After a brief insight into the theory of collectivity, the paper concludes with a need to engage in critical collective writing praxis and a call for action.
