Pisanka: The mobile application for learning how to write uppercase letters
Sažetak
This paper presents a mobile application for supporting children in learning the correct writing of uppercase letters of the Croatian alphabet. In addition to naming the letters themselves, children are expected to master the correct orientation when writing a specific letter and the writing rule for each letter. Preschool children often start to write letters without appropriate professional guidance, usually in the company of their family members, which can lead to incorrectly learned writing of letters that can later be difficult to correct. As a part of the DigEdu-2022 project carried out at the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences in Croatia, the iOS mobile application Pisanka was developed to facilitate the non-formal and formal learning process of writing the alphabet letters. The learning process was enriched by applying gamification mechanisms and visualizations for letter writings. The application was developed for preschool children and students in the first grades of primary education.
