New contribution to concrete arch bridges construction

Igor Gukov

Sažetak

In the paper true reinforced concrete arches are discussed from the aspect of the structural materials, structural system, the shape of the arch and construction methods. Four large concrete arch bridges were built on the Adriatic coast of Croatia in period from 1965 to 1980. Their degradation and maintenance problems are discussed. Designs for two new large arch bridges are presented. Shapes of these arches are selected in such way that bending moments under permanent actions are minimized, utilizing a computer program developed for this purpose.
