Sažetak

In modern times it is almost impossible to
imagine a world without education, knowledge
and skills that man inevitably needs for its
basic existence. In this regard mankind is,
as a result of economic developments and
the permanent crisis, forced to continually
develop and learn, adopting new knowledge,
so it could be in line with new methods and
technologies that are improving on a daily
basis. But, not all have access to education in
the classic, traditional way. In less developed
or geographically remote areas, as well as with
regard to business commitments, it is not easy
to acquire the necessary education. Nowadays,
the cost of computers and peripheral
technologies is relatively accessible and in that
way far more accessible to a wider population
than it was the case just ten years ago, so
there is a growing popularity of e-learning, i.e.
distance learning systems. These systems are
provided for the possibility of disseminating
knowledge to those groups of people who are
unable to attend traditional classes, in order
to reduce logistics costs, or simply to achieve
a higher quality of teaching in the classroom.
E-learning and distance learning systems
are not a novelty in the world of technology.
In a more or less similar way they have been
present for many years. But what makes them
so popular today is the fact that educational
institutions, companies and organizations
have recognized their capabilities.
