The development and implementation of information technologies (IT) in project management enables a qualitative shift in the construction and project management field. Regarding the quick development of IT there is a constant need for education in- specialized software application for users which are employees of construction and consultant firms. The Polytechnic of Zagreb e.g. its Department of Civil Engineering is conducting a Polytechnic graduate study, the only one of its kind in Croatia. The fore mentioned study is organised for additional education and the continuation of study for the engineers that are already employed – more than 90% of the students are employed in the Civil Engineering profession. To get a better insight on the education of employees in the application of IT in the construction and project management field we will conduct a survey among students studying on the mentioned study. In that way we will get an insight of the current state of application and development of IT in the construction and project management field. We will also get guidelines for future research in the methods of enhancement and implementation of IT in Croatian construction and consultant firms.
