INFRARED RADIATION: APPLICATIONS AND PROTECTION

Filip Žugčić

Sažetak

Radiation is the emission or transmission of energy in the form of waves or particles. It is often categorized as either ionizing or non-ionizing. Ionizing radiation has sufficiently high energy to ionize atoms. The kinetic energy of particles of non-ionizing radiation is too small to ionize atoms. Non- ionizing radiation includes the spectrum of ultraviolet (UV), visible light, infrared (IR), microwave (MW), radio frequency (RF), and extremely low frequency (ELF). In this paper, we first describe IR radiation characteristics and applications and then we describe protection methods against IR radiation.
