Increasing wear resistance of steel rings for sliding bearings by surface engineering procedures
Sažetak
The paper compares the possibilities of increasing the wear resistance of the sliding surface of steel rings EN DIN 100Cr6 (ASTM 52100) by nitriding processes in plasma and by coating processes from the vapor phase, PVD and PACVD. On the nitrated and coated bearing rings, the surface roughness was measured, the thickness and adhesion of the coatings were determined, and the friction coefficient and adhesion wear were tested by the sliding method “Block on Ring” Based on the test results for highly loaded sliding surfaces, the use of PACVD TiCN / TiN and PVD TiN coatings with good wear resistance and dry friction coefficient less than 0.1 is recommended.
