Image Analysis of Old Glagolitic Books Based on Photographic Digitalization

The area of Glagolitic script and the first printed books in Glagolitic is technically and technologically poorly explored. The possibility of technical support (or possibly a denial), by photographic digitalization and analysis of the digital records with ImageJ program, of historical knowledge and assumptions about the origins of the printing in Croatia is presented in the paper. Digital records of individual pages of the books and their pseudo3D views indicate that the presented method can identify the typical impression – ‘fingerprint’ of the printing presses and, based on these method, particular book can be 'joined' to the particular printing press.
