Green infrastructure and agro-environmental measures for water quality management at the river basin scale

Gorana Ćosić-Flajsig

Sažetak

Transboundary rural river basin water quality management requires the reduction of nutrient and sediment input into the water. In this research, for the pilot project - Sutla River Basin, the Soil Water Assessment Tool Model (SWAT) has been used for the pressure quantification of nutrients and sediment. The present scenario with basic measures has been prepared as the BASIC SCENARIO. Sutla River Basin is divided into 11 sub-basins, and in sub-basins 1 and 2 for the BASIC SCENARIO, appropriate additional “tailor-made” river basin measures have been implemented on the “hot spots” for nutrients and sediment pressures. Green infrastructure and agro-environmental measures, including best agriculture practices, show significant effects of retaining sediment, Total N and Total P.
