Sažetak

In the year 2012 the University of Zagreb started the process of energy audits and energy certification of all university buildings with intent to improve their energy performance. University of Zagreb, as a property owner, encompasses approximately 140 buildings (465.000 m²). The first phase of this research project covers five faculty buildings, which are 20% of all faculty buildings area belonging to University. One of the largest buildings, belonging to this first phase, is the building of former Faculty of Technology in Zagreb built between 1958-1964 designed by the esteemed 20th century Croatian architect Alfred Albini. This classic work is the last of Albini's accomplishments and is a protected cultural heritage. Today the building belongs to Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology and Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering, University of Zagreb. The paper presents results of energy audit and energy certification of Albini’s modern architecture building with determining the energy balance in contemporary usage. Finally, possible measures of energy efficient improvement with calculation of its profitability are given.
