Sažetak

The influence of growth retardants on growth and flowering of Aster novi-belgii and Aster novae-angliae perennials, grown as pot-flowers, has been researched during three vegetational seasons. The plants were treated with the retardant only once, in concentration of 0, 2% and 0, 4%, the second week after they had been planted into pots. The measured plant height, diameter, and the number of buds and heads were used to evaluate the potential of the variety as a flowering pot-plant. By conducting an analysis at the end of the experiment, a significant difference has been determined between the control and the variant treated with 0, 4% concentration of the growth retardant with both examined varieties.
