Development of arch bridge structures

The arch is natural and appropriate structural solution, that is both aesthetically pleasing and clearly shows its function. In the paper, only reinforced concrete true arches, fixed to the abutments shall be discussed. A parametric study of long &#8211 ; span encastred arches made of high strength concrete, with the arch axis of catenary shape, is presented. It is based on the experience from the maintenance of older Croatian arch bridges and on some new designs.
