Given the possibilities of making complicated geometries in a short time, metal and polymer moulds and tools are also made by additive manufacturing. Metal moulds are used for large series, while polymer moulds are used for small series of products because after some time they lose dimensional stability, mechanical properties and the mould may crack due to the high pressures and temperatures that develop during injection moulding process. For this reason, polymer moulds are most often made as mould inserts in a hybrid mould. In this work, the possibility of applying two different additive technologies, polyjet and fused deposition modeling - FDM, in the production of such mould inserts for a product made of polypropylene (PP). In the polyjet process, a photosensitive resin is used, and in the fused deposition modeling, thermoplastic reinforced with carbon particles is used. Tests have shown that the mould insert made with the polyjet process can withstand the injection moulding production of 50 products at a pressure of 45 bar before cracking, while not a single product was made with the mould insert made of polyamide by fused deposition modeling.
