Sažetak

This paper describes some of the challenges that occurred during the design, manufacturing and testing stage of a
rotating electric generator built to operate at 13000 rpm. The research was conducted on a two-pole induction machine built
for the purpose of generating power of 100 kVA by direct connection to the steam turbine. Analyses were performed using
finite element method (FEM)-based electromagnetic and structural calculations as well as conjugate heat transfer (CHT)
simulations based on the finite volume method (FVM). Prototype tests were performed in laboratory conditions for no load
and load conditions. The measurement data showed good correlation with simulation results. Achieving higher speeds requires
further investment into machine design development.
