This paper presents the practical use of the free and open-source GNU tools TeXmacs and Giac/Xcas in the preparation of teaching materials, presentations, and examinations in mathematics education. TeXmacs provides high-quality typesetting and structured document editing, while Giac/Xcas enables symbolic and numerical computations within the same environment. Their integration allows teachers to create interactive tasks, automate the generation of parameterized exam versions, and visualize mathematical concepts in real time. Two illustrative classroom examples demonstrate how dynamically adjustable tasks can support conceptual understanding and improve the efficiency and consistency of teaching materials. The paper highlights the pedagogical potential of open-source tools as sustainable, flexible and accessible alternatives to commercial mathematical software.
