A story of SCOLLAm: mobile and collaborative learning on tablet computers in one primary school in Croatia
Sažetak
In this short video documentary the authors present the SCOLLAm (Seamless and COLLAborative Mobile learning on tablet computers) project and discuss both the advantages of video documentation as a qualitative method for observational data collection in a mixed methods research design and the obtained research results. As a part of the SCOLLAm project the authors have developed a multiplatform solution for mobile and collaborative learning on tablet computers and, following the principles of the design based research, are conducting a sequence of experiments in order to gather data important for the future system design and development of a new system features and modules. This experimental design involves a large group of primary school children aged 6 to 9 where additional elements, beside the measurable quantitative results of the pre- and post- tests, are spatial (the mobile feature) and social (the collaborative feature) aspects, therefore favoring video as a qualitative observational method. The experiments presented in this video test three different system features being developed: the digital lesson player, augmented reality features and adaptive group formation module.
