Sažetak

In order to live more economically and energy efficiently, activities and the improvement of practices within the construction sector are becoming increasingly important. Alongside the industrial and transport sectors, the construction sector is a major contributor to negative impacts on the environment and, consequently, on human health, so it requires continuous research and improvement. In this paper, the aspects of green buildings and parameters that affect indoor environmental quality are presented, alongside living lab case studies in Sweden (KTH Live-In Lab) and Croatia (The Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering) which evaluate these parameters. The living laboratory in Sweden has three testbeds which students, professors and researchers on various projects inhabit daily. The living lab at the Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering consists of two classrooms, but measurements are also going to include a faculty laboratory. Indoor environmental quality parameters are followed in both living labs in order to find optimal values for improving resource utilization and the quality of indoor environment in buildings. This is exactly the purpose of living labs; monitoring people's daily habits, recording data on environmental quality parameters, and testing new, improved solutions that will lead to better health and energy-efficient green buildings with improved systematic energy management and control of thermotechnical systems. The paper is based on the analysis of academic literature and case studies, with an emphasis on environmental quality parameters and building energy efficiency. The aim is to define key organizational and operational elements required for the effective operation of a living laboratory.
