Chemical testing of the corrosion resistance of enamel coatings on steel tubular products for chimney systems

Ivan Stojanović

Sažetak

Enamel coatings on steel tubular products represent an important protective solution in chimney systems due to their high resistance to the corrosive effects of flue gases, condensates, and elevated humidity. During service, chimney systems are exposed to aggressive chemical and atmospheric conditions that can cause degradation of the base material and reduce the safety and durability of the system. This paper presents chemical and corrosion resistance testing of enamel coatings applied to steel tubular products intended for use in chimney systems. The testing program included exposure of specimens in a salt spray chamber to simulate chloride-containing environments, humidity chamber testing to assess resistance to prolonged moisture exposure, and electrochemical measurements to analyze corrosion behavior and the protective performance of the coating. The test results demonstrated that enamel coatings provide good chemical stability and significantly improve the corrosion resistance of steel tubular products under conditions simulating actual operating environments of chimney systems. The obtained results confirm the suitability of enamel coatings as a reliable protective system for enhancing the durability and safety of chimney structures.
