Beyond the Visible MSI – Practical Examples

Vladimir Cviljušac, Alan Divjak, Damir Modrić

Sažetak

The workshop focused on the application of multispectral imaging (MSI) for the non-invasive documentation and analysis of historical wall paintings. Participants were introduced to imaging in the visible and near-infrared spectral range, as well as UV-induced visible luminescence using 365 nm and 395 nm excitation sources. The practical work included multispectral data acquisition, spectral image comparison, image registration, PCA and false-colour analysis, with particular emphasis on enhancing and revealing hardly visible or concealed inscriptions beneath the surface paint layer. The workshop demonstrated the potential of MSI as a non-invasive tool for cultural heritage documentation, conservation and research.
