APPLICATION OF IoT TECHNOLOGY IN WORKWEAR AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING

Filip Žugčić

Sažetak

The development of the Internet of Things (IoT) has opened new possibilities in occupational safety, particularly through the integration of smart sensors and communication modules into workwear and protective clothing. Such smart clothing enables continuous monitoring of workers' physiological parameters, including body temperature, heart rate, and blood oxygen saturation, as well as workplace conditions such as temperature, humidity, harmful gases, noise, and vibration. The collected data are transmitted in real time to central monitoring systems, enabling timely intervention and the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases. This paper reviews available technological solutions and discusses key implementation challenges, including battery life, personal-data protection, and integration with existing safety management systems in high-risk industries.
