Adapting STEM teaching for future-ready education: a case study from a technical study programme

Lidija Tepeš Golubić, Vatroslav Zuppa Bakša

Sažetak

This chapter presents a case study of teaching innovation within a technical study programme in the STEM field. It examines how the integration of digital technologies, active learning strategies, formative assessment, and artificial intelligence can support future-ready learning environments in technical higher education. A mixed-methods case study approach was adopted, combining questionnaires administered to two student cohorts (2025: n = 56; 2026: n = 32) with semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and teaching documentation. Students in both cohorts reported consistently positive perceptions of digital learning resources, active learning, and formative assessment. The findings suggest that integrating multiple complementary teaching approaches is perceived as more beneficial than relying on individual educational technologies.
