The correlation between students attitudes and physical activity levels with the influence of parents and friends
Sažetak
This study aimed to determine the relationship between the attitude and level of physical activity (PA)
of students depending on the influence of those closest to them, such as parents and friends. The respondent pool consisted of the first two years of students from two different Zagreb higher education
institutions. However, besides the aforementioned relationship, also the differences between students
who finished gymnasiums or vocational schools were observed.
The results showed that students from the two faculties have a mostly positive attitude towards PA
with 73% participating in additional PA outside of regular PE classes. A significant, but weak association
between friends and attitude towards exercise was observed similar to the involvement in additional
sports and recreational activities in which a significant but weak association with parents was observed.
A significant, but moderate association was found between attitude towards exercise with leisure-time
exercise which higher values were shown by students who have completed vocational education as
opposed to those who have completed gymnasiums
