Sažetak

Embark on another journey through the ever-evolving world of Java with HUJAK (Croatian Java User Association). In this community keynote, we explore the Java tech ecosystem's current state and bright future. We discover the language foundations and new features, platform enhancements and extensions, and various frameworks and tools that have made Java one of the leading programming languages and software development platforms for different purposes for over 28 years. Multiple features have been available since the last long-term support (LTS) version 17 presented as an incubator, preview, and final JEPs throughout the previous two years until the new LTS Java 21 became available less than a month ago. Through JDK's projects Loom, Graal, Panama, Valhalla, and Amber, we received many new exciting features, such as Sequenced Collections, Record Patterns, Pattern Matching, and new garbage collectors, as well as great future possibilities, such as Structured Concurrency and Virtual Threads, Foreign Function and Memory API, Vector API, String Templates, Scoped Values, Unnamed Patterns & Variables, and Unnamed Classes & Instance Main Method. As we navigate the evolving software development landscape, we will also discuss the challenges of remote work, lifelong education, and employment demands in the software industry. Finally, together, we can celebrate Java's legacy, explore its frontiers, and empower ourselves to shape the future of modern software development.
