One of the most active areas of research and practice is the use of neural networks for process automation and prediction of events and trends based on an existing dataset. Encog framework written in Java allows the use of neural networks in a simple way to adapt and prepare for that purpose. Two examples of the implementation of such networks for forecasting tsunamis and predicting the level of air pollution in the city of Zagreb is presented in this talk.
