Sažetak

Composting of organic solid waste, the mixture of fruit and vegetable leftovers enriched with night soil in the closed thermally insulated reactor, has been investigated. It was estimated that 80.9 % of the original substrate biodegraded after 14 days, evolving 56 % of carbon dioxide. Mathematical model was proposed for biodegradation of solid waste in a column reactor. Simple empirical kinetic model was used to describe biodegradation rate of organic solid waste. Good prediction was obtained using the proposed kinetic model and calculated experimental heat of reaction.
