Sažetak
Irregularities of road surface causes a number of problems to their users, including poor ride quality, unsafe driving conditions and excitation of truck dynamics leading to further pavement deterioration and damage to vehicles and cargo. The shock-absorbers, which are the first to take the impact forces occurring as the consequence of the vehicle movement on a rough traffic surface, are especially sensitive. Since it is not possible to build perfectly smooth pavements, paving specifications usually prescribe the maximum acceptable roughness. This paper discusses asphalt and concrete pavement through vehicle wheel and vehicle chassis vibrations. The measurements of vibrations driving over asphalt and concrete pavement were performed on highway Zagreb-Slavonski Brod (Croatia). Vehicle vibrations were measured with different speed and prior to vibrations recordings, measurement of the road surface roughness has been performed. These results can be very useful for road management companies especially when facing a decision which type of road pavement should be used.
