Sažetak

Machining of free-form surfaces requires an optimized tool path planning. The tool path topology is critical to the machining efficiency and surface safety. Compared to the parametric surfaces, the surface approximations obtained by triangulation are convenient for isometric fitting and trimming of tool trajectories. In addition, the triangulation enables tool interference detecting and efficient computing of noninterference cutter locations. The computing of gouge?free tool trajectories is applied for validating the tool trajectories and in selecting the tool size. The selection of an optimal tool size is provided by successive examination of all critical surface regions.
