Sažetak

This paper first examines the digital twin as a conceptual framework and then as an implementation method. Several existing definitions
are reviewed, and a new one is proposed, emphasising the time dimension where the digital object represents a future state of the physical object. A key element is the inclusion of an observer or decision-maker (man in the loop). An AI-based automated decision-making system (AI agent) is also proposed and discussed within this framework. The concept is applied to a real-world case: the coastal reconnaissance segment of the Croatian fire-fighting system.
