Sažetak

Nowadays in Croatia, there are numerous ongoing construction projects focused on developing drainage systems. It's crucial to prioritize the safety of sewer collector trench excavations to improve construction quality and ensure worker safety and prevent accidents. Sewer systems are essential in urban areas, making high-quality and cost-effective trench excavation a priority for construction organizations.
Proper excavation of sewer collectors requires careful planning and using various trench protection methods to guarantee stability and structural integrity. The Occupational Safety and Health Act has set specific standards and guidelines to ensure safe work practices, especially for excavations deeper than 1.0 meters. This emphasizes the importance of organized safety measures and compliance with regulations. This paper highlights trench protection methods covering a wide range of techniques, from sloping trench sides to different shoring and bracing systems, as well as the use of protective boxes.
The successful execution of construction work on sewer collectors depends on thorough planning, effective construction organization, the application of appropriate trench protection methods, and adherence to legal regulations to ensure the project's stability, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
