Sažetak

If the construction material isn’t corrosion resistant enough in the foreseen conditions, either the conditions should be changed, or a protective coating should be applied. Many currently used anticorrosive coatings are not environmentally acceptable because of their high solvent emissions in the air. One of the environmentally friendly anticorrosion solutions are powder coatings. In this study, the corrosion performance of polyester and epoxy-polyester powder coatings was evaluated, using Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), salt spray and humidity chamber, and Scanning electron microscope (SEM) with Energy- dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) analysis. Study revealed that the epoxy-polyester powder coating demonstrated a better performance than polyester powder coating. The influence of surface texture on thickness and barrier properties of the coating was also determined.
