Sažetak

Many currently used anticorrosive coatings are not environmentally friendly because of their solvent emissions in the air. There is need for substitutes (or alternative techniques) which would have both performances, good corrosion protection and be environmentally acceptable. To achieve this, many researches have been conducted in order to find right formulation. One of the most interesting developments of new and environmentally friendly anticorrosion paints are waterborne coatings without toxic (chromium and lead) components, which are expected to protect metals in different types of environments. In this work, corrosion protection properties of waterborne coatings are determined using the electrochemical techniques of quasi-potentiostatic polarization i.e. by recording polarization curves and by Tafel extrapolation. Testing in salt chamber and determination of physical parameters of coatings (coating thickness and adhesion) are conducted too. Test results and evaluation of corrosion protection properties of waterborne coatings are presented in conclusion.
