Sažetak

This paper presents the results of the initial knowledge assessment conducted at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Zagreb, in October 2022 with the aim of gaining insight into the development of construction skills as a mathematical activity. In this paper, the term “construction” refers to a mathematical activity that is performed in the mind with ideal objects and includes the activity of finding the sequence of construction steps while respecting the properties of various geometric concepts. The realization of the mathematical idea itself is carried out through drawing, which in this research is carried out with the permitted aids of a compass and a ruler (although in general, in mathematics lessons, drawing can be carried out with the
help of other aids).
