The paper presents an investigation of a single feed circularly polarized microstrip patch antenna with diagonal slot. The slot dimensions are optimized to increase the bandwidth of the axial ratio. The patch antenna is manufactured and its radiation properties are measured. A significant increase in axial ratio bandwidth, compared to previous results, is obtained. The input impedance as well as the radiation patterns have been measured. A line impedance transformer is used to obtain input impedance matching.
