Self-oscillating microstrip antennas and arrays
Sažetak
The active integrated antennas and arrays are in the focus of interest of many researchers for more than a quarter of a century. In this work we present an overview of the development of active integrated antennas from the early days in the 1960s up till today. Special attention has been given to oscillating antennas and arrays because of the advantages they offer in spatial power combining and beam scanning without phase shifters. Detailed design and analysis of two new push-pull oscillating antennas have been presented. The push-pull oscillator is integrated in rectangular and circular microstrip patch. The characteristics of both active integrated antennas are verified by measurements on prototypes. The rectangular active integrated antenna is used as basic element for four power combining arrays, three of them coupled in E and one in H plane. The arrays are analyzed and the inter-element distance is optimized for obtaining suitable coupling coefficient phases for mutual injection locking. Power combining and beam scanning characteristics of all arrays are investigated.
